Outside of the Bonn Challenge, many countries have existing plans and targets for restoring degraded and deforested lands. These actionable targets can be found in official government plans, REDD+ strategies, and in-country multilateral investment programs.

Below are profiles, produced by IUCN, of countries with existing domestic restoration targets. Such targets represent places where restoration can begin and where ongoing restoration leadership should be recognized. Actions and ambitions exemplified through these profiles are one way that the potential of the Bonn Challenge can be realized. More importantly, it is through domestic plans that landscape restoration will take root and we will see ambition turn to action.

In collecting these details, IUCN aims to provide a useful tool highlighting domestic targets that frame landscape restoration as climate solutions while also showing the opportunity for potential pledges towards the Bonn Challenge.
